Post Cottage - Ridlington, Rutland

Set upon a high ridge, Post Cottage Bed and Breakfast accommodation is situated in one of the loveliest and tranquil villages in Rutland. We offer first class Bed and Breakfast accommodation near Uppingham and Oakham in a welcoming family atmosphere.

Parts of Post Cottage date from 1850s. Originally a farm labourer’s cottage, later the village post office the cottage has been extended over the years to provide spacious and comfortable accommodation..
Post Cottage Bed and Breakfast accommodation is ideally situated just two miles from the A47 at Uppingham, six from Oakham and twelve from Stamford.

From here, the many attractions of Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire are easily reached. Rutland itself is one of England’s unknown gems, having been described by Sir John Betjeman as having ...’all the charm of the Cotswolds without its ostentation.’ (and traffic). The smallest county in England, Rutland is a microcosm of rural England. Every village is delightful and no county has as many beautiful churches. There are numerous walks to be taken in the gently rolling countryside and many excellent pubs in the area.

Local attractions include Rutland Water, which caters for all interests; walking, cycling, sailing, fishing, bird watching. Also close by is the smaller Eyebrook Water used by 617 Squadron to rehearse the famous Dambuster Raid. Here there is excellent fishing in a glorious setting.

The outstanding Georgian town of Stamford and nearby Burghley House, host to the famous Horse Trials, is an easy drive away. Stamford has been described as the most perfectly preserved Georgian town in the country and was used for the filming of the television costume dramas ‘Middlemarch’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice’.
